Healing in Harmony expands to Guinea with partners at the Mukwege Foundation

Our partnership with the Mukwege Foundation continues to grow with the expansion of the Healing in Harmony program to Guinea. The studio has been setup with local partners l’Association des victimes parents et amis du 28 septembre 2009 (AVIPA) in Conakry. Staff training has been completed with support from the Healing in Harmony team at Panzi Hospital.

AVIPA supports survivors of a September 2009 massacre, their family and friends. In addition to killings that took place during a peaceful rally, there were wide widespread reports of beatings and sexual violence.

March 26-27, survivors represented AVIPA at the Stand Speak Rise Up! forum in Luxembourg. The international conference, hosted by Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg in collaboration with the Mukwege Foundation and others, is committed to ending sexual violence in fragile environments.
