In September 2023, Billy Talent joined Aboriginal Legal Services and Make Music Matter at the Harris Institute in Toronto to learn about the Culture to Wellness project, an initiative to explore holistic healing models for Indigenous communities. The band was invited to partake in a sacred rattle making ceremony and share some musical guidance to the newly empowered artists.

Music: “Where is Everyone?” by Zoongde`e (released December 8 – pre-save/listen here!)
Zoongde`e (the Anishinaabe word for ‘strong heart’, English phonetic: Zone-da-eh) is an artist collective made up of front-line workers at Aboriginal Legal Services (ALS) in Toronto, the majority of whom have endured vicarious trauma, hearing and feeling the stories of intergenerational trauma from the Indigenous community. Their single “Where is Everyone?” is ‘a letter to the world’, written mostly by the Indigenous women in the group, to bring attention to the issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2-Spirited people (MMIWG). They hope to inspire listeners to gain perspective from Indigenous women, to want to be a part of the solution, and to take action against the violence.
Zoongde`e was brought together by the Culture to Wellness project, a partnership between ALS and non-profit Make Music Matter, funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada.
