Make Music Matter is heartbroken to hear of the killing of one our close colleagues and partners in World Vision DRC and the injuring of another in an attack on a humanitarian convoy by unidentified armed actors.
The incident took place in Lubero Territory, North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in transit from returning to take food to a neighboring community in need.
“The protection and well-being of the most vulnerable is the predominant mission and ethos of any humanitarian or development organization. An attack upon the people who serve within this sphere is an affront to our common humanity and corrosive to the social contract that binds us all.
It is also a stark reminder to the fragility that is born from poverty and conflict and the intersecting factors that perpetuate the need for humanitarian interventions.
While we mourn for this immeasurable loss, we will intensify our efforts to continue to serve and heal this community through our Healing in Harmony music therapy program.”
